Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 19, 2026

VoxApp is an Android voice-to-text accessibility tool. This policy explains what data VoxApp collects, how it is used, and what stays private. We believe your voice and text belong to you — and we build accordingly.

Microphone Access

VoxApp requests microphone permission to record your voice. Audio recording begins only when you explicitly tap the VoxApp button. Recording stops automatically when you release or tap again. VoxApp never records audio in the background or without your direct action.

Audio Transmission — Voxtral (Speech-to-Text)

To convert your speech to text, audio is sent to Mistral AIvia their Voxtral speech-to-text API. This transmission happens over HTTPS. Mistral AI's data handling is governed by Mistral's privacy policy. VoxApp does not store, log, or analyze your audio on any server.

Text Enhancement — Mistral AI (Optional)

VoxApp optionally offers AI-powered text cleanup and translation. When enabled, the transcribed text is sent to Mistral AI for enhancement. This feature is opt-in and can be toggled off at any time in Settings. When disabled, no text is sent to Mistral AI.

API Key Storage

Your Mistral API key is entered directly in the VoxApp app and stored securely using Android DataStore (encrypted local storage). Your API key is never transmitted to VoxApp servers, never uploaded to any cloud, and never shared with any third party. It exists only on your device.

Accessibility Service

VoxApp uses Android's Accessibility Service API to detect which text field is focused on screen and to inject transcribed text into it. This is the only mechanism that allows VoxApp to work across all apps without special integration.

The Accessibility Service does not read your screen content, does not store what is displayed, and does not transmit any screen information. It only observes focus events and performs text injection when you initiate a recording.

Analytics

VoxApp uses PostHog for anonymous product analytics. This helps us understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example, which features are most used or where errors occur. PostHog session replay is explicitly disabled to prevent any capture of transcribed text or personal content.

No personally identifiable information is collected. No names, emails, or device identifiers are linked to analytics events. Analytics data is used solely to improve the app.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require account creation or sign-in.
  • We do not collect your name, email, or contact details.
  • We do not sell, share, or monetize your data.
  • We do not build advertising profiles.
  • We do not store your audio or transcriptions on our servers.

Transcription History

Transcriptions shown in the VoxApp history screen are stored locally on your device using an on-device SQLite database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly copy or share it yourself.

Children

VoxApp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as VoxApp evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
